چکیده

Abstract Objective Incorporating silane-coupling agent into universal adhesives (UAs) to simplify adhesive luting of glass-ceramic restorations appeared ineffective due silane’s instability in an acidic aqueous solution. This study aimed evaluate new silane technology added experimental UA be bonded glass ceramics without separate prior silanization. Methods Combined technology, consisting 3-(aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) and γ-methacryloxypropyltriethoxysilane (γMPTES), was incorporated formulation, being referred as ADH-XTE (3M Oral Care). Immediate aged shear bond strength (SBS) onto as-milled (‘AM’), tribochemical silica-coated (‘TSC’), HF-etched (‘HF’), mirror-polished (‘MP’) CAD/CAM blocks (IPS e.max CAD) with/without silanization measured (n = 10/group). The control included Scotchbond Universal (‘SBU’) 1 XT (‘SB1-XT’). surface topography the fractography SBS-debonded specimens were observed by SEM. Results Without silanization, ADH-XTE, containing combined APTES/γMPTES significantly outperformed bonding efficiency its silane-containing SBU precursor, while it performed equally effective applied with Upon aging, significant reduction SBS recorded when TSC surfaces (p Significance capacity surpassed that precursor. HF etching remains needed durably glass-ceramics.

Bonding of the silane containing multi-mode universal adhesive for lithium disilicate ceramics

OBJECTIVES This study evaluated the influence of a multi-mode universal adhesive (MUA) containing silane (Single Bond Universal, 3M EPSE) on the bonding of resin cement to lithium disilicate. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty IPS e.max CAD specimens (Ivoclar Vivadent) were fabricated. The surfaces were treated as follows: Group A, adhesive that did not contain silane (ANS, Porcelain Bonding Resin,...

Analysis of Self-Adhesive Resin Cement Microshear Bond Strength on Leucite-Reinforced Glass-Ceramic with/without Pure Silane Primer or Universal Adhesive Surface Treatment

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the microshear bond strength (μSBS) of self-adhesive resin (SA) cement on leucite-reinforced glass-ceramic using silane or universal adhesive. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ceramic blocks were etched with 9.5% hydrofluoric acid and divided into three groups (n = 16): (1) negative control (NC) without treatment; (2) Single Bond Universal (SBU); (3) RelyX Ceramic Primer as positiv...

Evaluation of adhesive bonding of ceramic tiles using active thermography

Adhesion failure and/or detachment of ceramic tiling are common building defects. Bonding rupture of this type of coating presents a serious risk to people’s safety, in particular if it occurs on external façades. It may be avoided by earlier non-destructive inspections. This paper presents the results of an active thermography investigation in which adhesive bonding defects of ceramic coatings...

Performance of universal adhesives on bonding to leucite-reinforced ceramic

BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the microshear bond strength of universal bonding adhesives to leucite-reinforced glass-ceramic. METHODS Leucite-reinforced glass-ceramic blocks were polished and etched with 9.5% hydrofluoric acid for 1 min. The specimens were assigned to one of four groups based on their surface conditioning (n = 16): 1) NC: negative control with no further treatme...
